PROVIDENCE Less than an hour before his swearing-in as Rhode Island s new governor Tuesday night, Dan McKee disclosed his 30-plus staff picks so far.
They include: A mayor s son. A TV news anchor. A former state budget officer. The head of Black Lives Matter R.I. And an unabashed advocate for the publicly funded school alternatives known as charter schools.
In fact, with his first budget due next week, McKee scored a major coup by bringing former state Budget Officer Thomas Mullaney over to his State House team as a senior advisor.
Mullaney is on loan to the governor s office from the state s office of management and budget, according to a McKee spokesman.
