Descendants of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation’s former slaves say it is time the tribe finally honors the commitment it made in 1866 to give them citizenship.
The Black Creek Coalition has filed a petition, asking the tribal court to honor the terms of a treaty and reinstate citizenship for descendants of Black people enslaved by the tribe.
