Rhode Islanders 12 and older can now be vaccinated against COVID-19 after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration lowered the age range for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
“I’m urging all parents to get their 12-to-15-year-olds vaccinated, Gov. Dan McKee said in a news release Tuesday. This vaccine will help keep kids, families and our community safe.”
The FDA approved Pfizer vaccinations of people 12 and older late Monday, and by late morning Tuesday the state s vaccinateri.org booking website was allowing same-day appointments for the younger age group.
A parent or guardian will need to book appointments and provide consent for anyone younger than 16 to be vaccinated.
