Overflowing drain on Moorcombe Drive, Preston, Weymouth fixed

A PROBLEM drain which had been overflowing for 45 years has finally been fixed. The Dorset Echo previously reported on an overflowing drain on Moorcombe Drive in Preston, Weymouth, which had been complained of by residents as far back as 1975 with little being done to resolve the issue and the problem only getting worse. However, only a week after that report, residents were grateful to hear that it has now been fixed after decades of frustration. Residents Mary Millard, 80, and her husband Reverend Malcolm Millard, 83, were particularly worried about the state of the drain and said that a lot of the people living around it on Moorcombe Drive are elderly and were worried about their wellbeing around the stagnant pool of water. The presence of stagnant or still water can be a breeding ground for bacteria and the water on the road corner frequently froze over in the winter.
