District Attorney requests outside prosecutor in racketeering case - 41NBC News

Listen to the content of this post: MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney, David Cooke, requested Tuesday, a special prosecutor be appointed to handle a 16-defendant multi-jurisdictional racketeering case indicted by Bibb County grand jurors last week. “In light of the concerns raised in the past week about this case, and considering my ethical duty as district attorney, I have disqualified the Macon Judicial Circuit from prosecuting it,” Cooke said. “An independent prosecutor appointed from outside the jurisdiction will help ensure public confidence that this case is handled fairly and objectively.”  The Georgia Attorney General’s Office will now appoint a special prosecutor to handle the case.

the financial crimes, charges facing the former trump campaign chairman. yesterday the prosecution asked an irs revenue agent to provide a grand total of all the business income that paul manafort did not report on his income tax returns between 2010 and 2014. the answer? $16,471,000,000,000. he spent it on clothes, houses, antiques and home improvements. what many legal experts say should be a slam dunk for special counsel rahm emanuel, namely, a cranky judge and a flawed witness. joining me in alexandria, barbara mcquade. she is also an msnbc contributor. you have been sitting in on this trial. i m just curious, what s going on with judge ellis? is it normal the way he is going after the prosecution?
