A new photo exhibit in the Healthy Kentucky Research Building features the work of 25 high school and UK undergraduate students from the UK Markey Cancer Center’s Appalachian Career Training in Oncology (ACTION) Program. The photovoice project was intended to encourage Appalachian Kentucky youth to consider determinants of cancer and visualize the effects that cancer has on their families or communities.
The program provides a path for UK to advocate for and ensure the inclusion of a diverse population of students pursuing mentored research in designated Research Priority Areas (RPAs).
