RNLI Carrybridge Tows Vessel with Engine Difficulties on Lough Erne
8th March 2021
The Carrybridge Atlantic 85 and the RNLI jetski Rescue Water Craft
Only a few days after Carrybridge RNLI which operates on Upper Lough Erne, received a generous donation from the Enniskillen Royal Boat Club, its Atlantic 85 Inshore lifeboat answered a shout yesterday (7th) to help a vessel with two people onboard which had developed engine difficulties.
The Douglas Euan and Kay Richards and a Rescue Watercraft arrived with the casualty vessel near the Share Discovery Village on the eastern shore of Upper Lough Erne.
Winds were South Westerly, Force 2 and visibility was good with overcast conditions. The crew found that the vessel had secured to a navigation marker and the people on the casualty boat were unharmed.
On Wednesday, Dec. 2, after our ocean swim down the beach to the Hotel Del Coronado from G Avenue near the maintenance shed, James Murphy and I joined our local watermen friends Steve Ogles (surfer, swimmer, underwater camera pioneer and founder of Water Shot), Bill Bender (retired San Diego City Lifeguard Sergeant, international spearfisherman and all around waterman extraordinaire), Roger Odiorne (surfer and international spearfisherman) at the Coronado Main Lifeguard tower to meet with Dr. Chris Loweâs graduate students from the Long Beach State Shark Lab and Coronado Beach Lifeguard Captain Sean Carey and his lifeguards for another shark tagging project. This time Loweâs post doctorate, Dr. James Andrews, would be in charge of the Shark lab team in Loweâs absence.
