3 dead, 2 injured in Cambridge apartment fire
An overnight fire claimed the lives of three Cambridge residents, including an 8-year-old child, and sent two more people to an Eastern Shore hospital.
The Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal said the Rescue Fire Company responded to the 400 block of High Street in Cambridge around 12:22 a.m. Thursday after a neighbor called 911 to report the blaze.
Firefighters arrived on scene to find severe fire conditions inside a three-story brick structure that housed two apartments.
The blaze reached three alarms and several more surrounding fire departments were summoned to help, according to a news release. It took roughly 75 firefighters about 90 minutes to get the flames under control.
CAMBRIDGE â Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Christmas night, Dec. 25, around 9:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Pine Street. This is the second reported shooting in the area this week.
According to Capt. Justin Todd with the Cambridge Police Department, an altercation in front of the Elks Lodge resulted in the suspect who was on the ground pulling out a gun and shooting the victim.
Preliminary reports indicate the victim sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Units from Rescue Fire Company and Cambridge EMS responded to the patient who was airlifted to Shock Trauma. The victims condition is unknown at this time.
