The Delhi government said in a status report that 47 relief camps were set up in the wake of the Yamuna floods and ‘proper food and other amenities were provided to flood-affected victims’.
Sikkim chief minister Prem Singh Tamang told media persons that the damage has been extensive. "As there is hardly any connectivity in the northern part of the state, we are yet to know the damages there as there are no roads and the bridges have been washed away. Our priority is to rescue over 3,000 tourists and other people stranded there," he said.
Persistent heavy rains have flooded parts of Kerala, warranting school closures, evacuation to relief camps, and a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in four districts.
A holiday was declared by the district administration for educational institutions in Kottayam, Vaikom and Changanassery taluks due to flooding in those areas.
