Clinton County History Center intern redesigning Relic Room - Wilmington News Journal

Clinton County History Center intern redesigning Relic Room Submitted photo WILMINGTON The History Center is pleased to welcome its newest intern, Mikaela Prescott, a student at Wilmington College majoring in History. She is redesigning the museum’s Relic Room, which formerly featured a collection of doctor and dentist materials, Native American arrowheads, and common home goods from yesteryears. The new exhibit will feature history predating Clinton County (1810), when Indigenous peoples cultivated the land and other prehistoric animals called Southern Ohio home. The museum plans to include an interactive “touch” portion to this exhibit, which will encourage children to interact with artifacts in their Education Collection.

will was very humbling to me. lieutenant gamble. the flag was later taken to the confederate relic room in a museum as spes specified in the bill that nikki haley signed after debate on the stays house floor wednesday. ultimately the house decided 4-20 to remove the flag which has been displayed on the state house grounds since 1961 when it was put up to symbolize in opposition the civil rights movement. for more than 50 years the flag has flown in the state capital city prompting debate protests and even boycotts over the decades. there was readily visible to residents and visitors alike a constant tangible reminder of the state s rebellion in both the 1860s and the 1960s. until friday. the flag s removal is certainly a symbolic accomplishment that has generated a lot of state

forget and no one would be able to deny what they went through. this will remain part of our history as corrected. no expungement will be interested. this will remain part of our history as corrected. today in south carolina they did not take it away and hide it away somewhere. they did not pretend it had never been there. they did not expunge it as if it never existed. instead in a seamless continuous display it has now been moved to and placed in a museum in the confederate relic room. it is not flying above the citizens of south carolina anymore declaring confederate territory, but it has not been destroyed. it remains part of our history as corrected. oh yeah, hebrew national. they re all-beef like yours but they re also kosher. is that a big deal?

moment. this after state lawmakers voted overwhelmingly to remove the confederate flag in the state grounds. it is now in the south carolina relic room and military museum. the call was sparked by the killing of nine people at a historic african-american church in charleston. the confessed shooter, dylann roof was photographed with the confederate flag. joining me right now is bakari sellers, a former state representative of the state house and born and raised in the state. good to see you, bakari. the fbi, before i ask you about the confederate flag and what that means to you, particularly as a native son of south carolina let s talk about the fbi and its response saying the background check of dylan roof that confessed was not thoroughly completed. he should have never been able to purchase that gun. what s your reaction to that. an apology is not enough.
