is that you would divide it so there would be one group that would approve the leases for the oil and gas companies and another group that, or another half that would look oversee the regulation. you remember back in 2008, there was scandal involving employees from the mineral management service that were reports that they were having sex with people from the energy companies. they were doing drugs with people from the energy companies. they were partying with people from the energy companies. and that is where that idea that they had just gotten way too cozy. and now the question is, did that relationship lead to this disaster in the gulf? was there not the proper oversight. i will tell you what s fascinating, i talked to tony hayward last week and he said look, we did everything we were asked to do. everything the government asked to us do, we did. if you ve got a problem with that, then maybe you need stronger regulation. he didn t say it quite that bluntly but that s what he meant.
