The Ekka Public Holiday will be moved until later in 2021 for Brisbane, Scenic Rim and Moreton Bay local government areas.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said moving the holiday from Wednesday, August 11 occurred following the Ekka being cancelled for a second year.
“I know many people and families were disappointed to hear the Ekka would not go ahead this year,” the Premier said.
“But with the current situation, the last thing we need right now is a potential super-spreader event with thousands of people gathered.
“And if we can’t have the Ekka this year to help keep Queenslanders safe, it makes sense to move the holiday.

New rules around scaffolding kick in from tomorrow to protect the lives of Queensland construction workers.
Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace said a revised code of practice would make working on scaffolds much safer.
“Construction activity has increased substantially in recent years and so has the potentially high-risk activity of using scaffolds,” she said.
“More than 60 workers every year are seriously injured using scaffolding, with their workers compensation claims requiring five or more days off work.
“The code brings a raft of features to substantially boost safety for workers.

Queensland has called on the Morrison Government to restore financial support for services to help women with workplace issues, including sexual harassment.
Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace today committed almost another $800,000 over three years for Working Women Queensland, a free advisory and support service, and asked Federal Industrial Relations Minister Michaelia Cash to reinstate their funding.
“It’s time for the Morrison Government to walk the talk on supporting women,” Ms Grace said.
“The Coalition cut funding to Working Women Queensland five years ago and has not paid a cent towards this vital service since this time.
