POTSDAM Potsdam Village Mayor Reinhold J. Tischler announced today (Monday, May 3) that the village will begin the Garner Park Renovation Project this month.
Garner Park is located at the west end of Raymond Street on the Raquette River.
Dedicated to the late Ruth F. Garner, a long-time village trustee and mayor, the park was initially developed in the late 1980’s and is ready for a make-over, said a press release from the village.
“The renovation of Garner Park is the first step in the Village’s development of the Downtown Riverwalk Trail that will provide unparalleled access to Potsdam’s downtown waterfront,” said Tischler.
POTSDAM â With no comment, the village Board of Trustees on Monday evening approved its budget for 2021-22.
The tax rate of $18.218 per $1,000 of assessed value represents a 0.38% decrease from the last budget.
The spending plan calls for the appropriation of $100,000 from its fund balance, which village Mayor Reinhold J. Tischler said is currently at more than $3 million.
At a public hearing earlier this month, there was no public comment on the spending plan.
Ma Tischler said earlier that department heads had a pragmatic attitude thatâs helped keep the tax rate flat for three straight years.
In other village business Monday, the trustees heard from three residents during a public hearing on a proposed law to allow the keeping of chickens in the village. All three residents spoke in favor of the proposal that will likely be voted on in May.
POTSDAM â The Potsdam Village Board of Trustees will vote to adopt a 2021-2022 spending plan at its next regular meeting on April 19.
If adopted as it is now, the proposed tax rate of $18.218 per $1,000 of assessed value represents a 0.38% decrease from the last budget plan.
The budget calls for the appropriation of $100,000 from its fund balance, which Mayor Reinhold J. Tischler said is currently at more than $3 million.
âIt was a tremendous effort from Lori (S. Queor) and all the department heads,â Mr. Tischler said.
Department heads were frugal in their requests, he said.
âThey chose not from the want list but from the need list,â Mr. Tischler said.
