Two attempts to delay the decision for one month so board members can obtain more information both failed on 4-4 votes. Board Vice President Kim Mares was absent from the meeting.
After hearing from the public for two hours at the March 13 voting meeting, the matter of the proposed policy change was next discussed on March 21 at the policy committee with many of the same arguments being raised. No consensus on changing the language to reach a compromise, or "wordsmithing" the policy as some described it, was reached.

ROYERSFORDÂ â Organizations and activists from throughout the region will rally Saturday in support of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who have been victims of discrimination.
Called âBreaking the Silence,â the vigil will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Victory Park, Second Avenue and Arch Street, Royersford. It will feature victims talking about how their experiences affected them. The public is invited.
The event, like several others recently in the region, had been in the planning stages in response to increasing reports of discriminatory or violent incidents targeting Asian Americans during the pandemic. But it gained momentum after the murders of Asian Americans in Atlanta.
