San Francisco Giants 2021 MLB Draft preview

share-square-287500 SAN FRANCISCO With the 2021 MLB Draft set to begin on Sunday, anticipation is building for Michael Holmes, the Giants’ third-year director of amateur scouting, and the rest of his staff. This year’s Draft is taking place one month later than usual, giving the Giants’ scouting group extra time to pore over the evaluations that will guide their selections during the annual event. “I think it’s an exciting time for our entire staff, even for our entire organization,” Holmes said. “Draft time is always an exciting part of our year. It’s what we kind of spend all year working towards.”

Most York County schools plan traditional graduation ceremonies

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced this week that people who are fully vaccinated may forgo masks in most public spaces. Despite the announcement, Downs said South Western High School will still mandate masks for the ceremony.  Spring Grove Area High School also is hosting one traditional graduation ceremony with masking and social distancing requirements, but Principal Dave Dietrich said that could change if state guidance continues to relax. Dietrich said he is happy that his school can offer an in-person ceremony for its graduates, given that at the start of the year, many education officials doubted whether any school buildings would even keep their classrooms open.
