An original X-wing model used in the 1977 final space battle scene of Star Wars has sold for $3.135 million at a Heritage Auction in Dallas. The 20-inch miniature was one of four "hero" models built for close-up shots and was considered lost until it was discovered in the collection of the late model maker Greg Jein. The X-wing features details such as hinged wings, work lights, and battle scars. The sale of this prop sets a new record for the most expensive movie prop sold at auction from the iconic film. The buyer remains unknown.
