Lets begin with markets a day after the dow hit 40k for the First Time Ever on pace for its fifth week of gains. What did you make of all the fuss yesterday . I thought this was one of the broader attempts at a major milestone. And what led it was just incredible. I mean, youre dealing with a level of broad that what let me tell you, the most important thing was rates had only something to do with one stock out of ten. You could pin on rates. Director of the roosevelt house in albany this evening. We are very excited to have kevin here to talk about his biography of food for and also to have amity chalets to interview him. You can imagine that this is not a house in which Herbert Hoover is historical or in the presentday talked about often were usually very kindly so one thing i want to say about the introduction is the indictment and advocacy shape and overwhelm the story of the man Herbert Hoover and they think that there has been more indictment in these holes than anywhere else because they lived here in this house during the 1932 campaign so we will hear a different story in the campaign and you might have heard interpreted. We met in the library on the second floor which is where president roosevelt met with members of the 32 election so i have a feeling they were talking about what a bad job Herbert Hoover had been doing. As the review says about the biography, they called it an intensely researched resurrection of a

Katharine i really dont suppose that i meant to just tell everything to everybody, but once i sat down to write my story, i just tend to be frank and open and i wanted to be very truthful and i just wrote it the way i saw it and the way the research came up with. I told it as i the best i could. Brian when did you start it . Katharine about 6 1 2 years ago i started to do the research for this book. I actually had the idea even longer ago than that. Brian you addressed early in the book that you wrote it yourself. Katharine i did. But i also had very good assistance from a fine researcher, evelyn, my editor so i felt like i had assistance from them but i wrote the words myself. Brian how did you go about it . Jonathan director of roosevelt house who is in albany this evening. So were very excited to have ken whyte here to talk about his biography of hoover. And also to have amity shlaes to interview him. This is not a house in Herbert Hoover historically or in the present day talked about often or usually too kindly. So one thing that i want to say about ken whyte in the introduction to his book says that indictment and advocacy shape and often overwhelm the story of the man, Herbert Hoover. I think there has been more indictment of Herbert Hoover in these halls than anywhere else perhaps because franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt lived here in new york in this house during the 1932 campaign. So i think well hear a different story of the 1932 campaign than you might have heard them interpret it as being. We met earlier in the franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt library on the second floor which is where Franklin Roosevelt met with prospective cabinet members after the 1932 election. I have a feeling
