The Wild Is A New Day-to-Night Oasis Across from Union Station

The Wild Is a New Day-to-Night Oasis Across from Union Station The beautiful bar from the team behind Hudson Hill and Lady Jane is intended to be a space of calm and connection in downtown Denver.Denise Mickelsen •   March 2, 2021 Who says that you can’t open a bar in downtown Denver a year into the pandemic? Not Hudson Hill and Lady Jane co-owner Jake Soffes, who began welcoming locals into his newest spot, the Wild, across the street from Union Station on February 16.  It’s a lovely bar, all light woods and green plants and luminous watercolor artwork from Denver painter Noelle Phares on the walls. Tucked away off a Wynkoop Street alley across the street from Next Door American Eatery, in what was formerly an Edward Jones Investments financial office, Soffes and Denver architecture firm Unum Collaborative worked together to transform the space into an urban oasis of sorts, complete with lots of natural light during the day and comfortable places to sit at any time

Owner of Hudson Hill, Lady Jane opens a third concept by Union Station

Owner of Hudson Hill, Lady Jane opens a third concept by Union Station Lily O’Neill photo) Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Union Station, a new coffee shop and cocktail lounge offers a place for “wild things to roam,” according to its owner. Jake Soffes opened The Wild last week at 1660 Wynkoop St., in a former office space in a set-back courtyard. “The Wild is in reference to ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak, and the thought process behind that was we wanted to create an enclave and special place where people can step outside the chaos of downtown,” the restaurateur said.

Best Denver Food and Drink Things to Do This Weekend

Rex Miller Monday, January 11 Adrian Miller (also known as the Soul Food Scholar and the hustling-est Denver native we know) is hosting two virtual food events in January. The first, Books & Beyond, is in partnership with the Denver Public Library Friends Foundation on Monday, January 11, at 5:30 p.m. It will focus on Miller s change of career from attorney to food historian and author, and include the lowdown on his favorite restaurants and recipes. Registration is still available on the Foundation s website; while the discussion is free, a donation to the Foundation is encouraged. Plan ahead: And on Wednesday, January 20, Miller is celebrating the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris with Presidential Soul: A Virtual Presidential Inauguration Event. Attendees will get recipes for four tribute menus being prepared by chefs around the country; music and dancing; discussions with Black chefs who worked for previous presidential administrations and were subjects of Miller
