Palliative care nurse Helen Ashton, who crashed her Land Rover over three times the alcohol limit, has been spared jail after telling magistrates she was grieving the death of a patient.
Sentencing will take place next month. The last 12 months have been full of stories of people refusing to wear face masks on planes, with some incidents leading to violence and arrests. Face mask policies differ around the world. Here in New Zealand, all passengers must wear face coverings, but the US has been a battleground over the use of masks. In November, everyone on a Southwest Airlines flight had to disembark the plane after a passenger refused to wear a face mask, while in another inciddent the family of a two-year-old were kicked off a service when the toddler didn t want to wear a mask.

The court was told how Hendry began his drunken tirade around one hour into the flight on January 29.
Prosecutor Janice Vallancee said Hendry had repeatedly refused to wear a mask at the request of staff, before he became aggressive towards one of the cabin crew.
It was later confirmed he had consumed three-quarters of a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka.
Hendry, who had drunk three-quarters of a bottle of vodka, then headbutted a member of staff before stroking a women s arm and attempting to hug her, Manchester Magistrates Court heard
