Charlie w/Jet Fuel Soda/Radaghast Jet Fuel Soda’s 2022 album American Soda Candy Rock sounds like it could be a sugary sweet affair, but there’s nothing saccharine about it. Save for the lo-fi “Sunny,” from the opening track, “Geek” and across 20 more minutes until the bonus cut “Country Song (Dog),” the album is scuzzy, distorted rock that’s turned all the way up with just a flash of melody (“Infinte Car Rides (Harry’s Song),”Oz Hevvy (Pusher)”) for the emo kids in the crowd. Local indie-rock-turned-emo-favorite Charlie (pictured) headlines the show while newish Bay area band Radaghast (which plays “Experimental Laundry Rock/Ear Music”) runs the opening slot.—Ray Roa
Shevonne & The Force Shevonne & The Force is part of Pride’s Saturday concert (6:50 p.m. in Vinoy Park, people), but this is a chance to see the outfit headline just a few months after it released a new mixtape, Episode IV (a. new. vibe.), where the Force (stylized “The FVRCE” for this one) pulls in ‘70s soul samples (think Delfonics, Barry White) for a smooth, laid-back outing.—Ray Roa
Emo Night Tampa Pre-Anniversary Party: Pet Lizard/more Pet Lizard—which has gone on to play local alt-rock Cox Media station 97X’s Next Big Thing Festival alongside Jack White—told CL that there’s a cathartic energy to every Emo Night Tampa. “It’s a safe space to go let loose and get lost in the crowd and the people that go are the type of people you wanna be around… As a band, it’s a special gift to play shows like these,” the band added. Sorry Barb, Bad Bad Things, Kick Veronica and House of I are also playing this pre-anniverary party—Ray Roa
