The health and safety upgrades needed at county nursing homes are many but the tax dollars to address them are not. So, the possibility of an unexpected $50 million in pandemic aid for infrastructure projects was welcome news.
New Hampshire state, county, and local public health officials and hospitals have relied on untold millions in federal pandemic money to run vaccination clinics, provide free tests and antiviral medications, and cover COVID-19 treatment for the uninsured. But New Hampshire officials are already preparing for a future in which the federal support is gone.
