Amazon workers say no to a union in Alabama
A vote to create Amazon s first union at its warehouse in Birmingham, Alabama has failed. The movement led by the retail, wholesale and department store union (RWDSU) saw 738 vote in favour of a union, with 1,798 votes against. There are about 5,900 workers at the site who were eligible to vote. This result comes despite campaigning from the likes of Vermont senator Bernie Sanders and celebrities such as actor Andy Glover for the union. Once the result was in, Amazon s founder Jeff Bezos who stepped back from the position of CEO earlier this year thanked employees for voting: There’s been a lot of noise over the past few months and we’re glad that your collective voices were finally heard. In the end, less than 16% of the employees.voted to join the RWDSU union.

Good Tuesday morning!
We’re probably two days away from the Legislature voting to legalize marijuana.
But did you know that even after weed is legalized, a person caught growing even a relatively modest amount of it could face up to 20 years in prison, including a mandatory minimum sentence?
