Rancho Los Cerritos invites the valued members of its family to join them at the Welcome Back Dinner on July 31st from 5:30-7:30 pm. During the past year, Rancho Los Cerritos has been open as a recreational and educational space for the community when so few options were available. It was honored to offer a safe outdoor space for students and visitors when they needed them most. Now, we can gather together again for the first time in more than a year to support the beloved historic site.
At the Welcome Back Dinner, everyone will dine together in the backyard, bid in an exclusive silent auction, enjoy live music, and see the latest achievement in our Opening Doors’ restoration campaign. Rancho Los Cerritos will unveil the full two-story 1930s living room in all its glory for the first time in decades. Thank you again for supporting Rancho Los Cerritos as it serves the community and use history to inspire learners of all ages.

Residents in East Long Beach have access to nearly 16 times the park space than those living in West Long Beach. But as the City Council tries to address this inequity, it will likely run into two big obstacles: time and money.

A report released by the city this month outlined the park inventory in the city and potential ways the city can expand it, but also the challenges that would accompany those additions. The largest park in East Long Beach, El Dorado Regional Park, consists of 400 acres of open public space, while Virginia Country Club and Rancho Los Cerritos make up the largest open area in the western half of the city.
