The is awarding more than $227 million dollars statewide for projects ranging from improved intersections to crosswalk safety enhancements. Caltrans has awarded the Central and South Coast more than $12 million dollars in federal funding for street and highway safety projects. Among the projects funded is safety upgrades near an Oxnard school which was the scene of a deadly 2019 accident which left a young boy dead, and a girl and her mother seriously injured. More than $250,000 dollars has been allocated to add flashing lights and other crosswalk improvements at four intersections near Ramona School. Oxnard is also getting nearly three million dollars to make safety improvement at 10 intersections in the city.
