Sachin Vaze’s arrest seems like “poetic justice”. The 73-year-old mother of
Khwaja Yunus, a bomb blast suspect who disappeared in 2003, has waited patiently for years for the tide to turn against the erstwhile encounter specialist.
Fighting for “justice after the murder of my son’’, she said she was never a match for “the powerful Vaze”. But his arrest showed that “there is always light at the end of the tunnel.”
“Our trust in the Almighty has further strengthened my belief that justice is delayed but not denied. We ran from pillar to post to get the trial started in my son’s murder case, but Vaze is so powerful that he managed to delay the judicial process for so many years,” said Asiya Begum.

Mumbai Police assistant inspector Sachin Vaze, who has been arrested by NIA in the Ambani bomb scare case, is not new to controversies. He was earlier arrested in 2004 in the Khwaja Yunus custodial death case, in which trial is still on. His arrest by NIA comes 10 months after he resumed duty with Mumbai Police.
