Regional police officer named QLD Hero for supporting his community

Premium Content Subscriber only A CENTRAL Queensland police officer has been recognised as the 2020 Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Queensland Hero for his dedication to the community. Bede Little, Senior Constable of the Ilfracombe Police Station, was named the RFDS Local Hero for the Longreach region and was today announced as the statewide winner. His work in the community extends much further than policing due to the remote nature of his location and the struggles experienced across the region due to drought. On one occasion Mr Little helped the pilot of a small plane which stalled mid-air. Fortunately for the person in the aircraft, he was able to assist until the RFDS arrived.

Senior Constable Little, who is now based in Longreach, was nominated for his work while stationed in neighbouring Ilfracombe because of the impact he had on the small central western community.
