CLEMSON, S.C. – Three Tigers were recognized as ACC Performers of the Week for their impressive marks set at this past weekend’s Orange & Purple Elite Meet, the conference announced Tuesday. Tarees Rhoden was honored as the men’s track performer of the week, while Marie Forbes was named the women’s field performer of the week. Rojé Stona was co-field performer of the week along with Georgia Tech’s Cameron O’Neal. In his first meet as a Tiger, Rhoden shot himself up to the top of Clemson’s all-time 600 leaderboard with an extremely impressive 1:17.81. He led the race from beginning to end and finished approximately 50 meters ahead of his closest competition en route to the fourth-best 600 meter time in the nation this season. “For Tarees, The 600 is a good indicator of where he should be in his primary event, the 800, and that’s a really good start for him” raved Program Director Mark Elliott. CLEMSON, S.C. The Clemson track and field program has signed pole vaulter Jack Vecellio out of South Deerfield, Massachusetts, the team announced on Tuesday. Vecellio adds to the program's already stellar signing class. The Massachusetts native projects to make an immediate impact on the team and the ACC vaulting landscape. He holds a PR of 16.7 meters. The pole vault is an area of our team that we are trying to build and Jack is the person to start that process, raved Program Director Mark Elliott. We're highly excited about his ability and extremely happy to have him as a part of our team. The track and field team returns to action on January 8, 2022 in the Orange & Purple Elite Meet hosted at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex. CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson's indoor track season got underway on Friday inside Clemson's Indoor Track and Field Facility where 17 team competed, including two ACC opponents (GT and FSU). The Tigers boasted a strong showing and Program Director Mark Elliott is pleased with what he saw from the team, stating: Overall for a December 3rd meet, it was good. This is what we want, to give them a good idea of what shape they are in heading into the break, so they The meet saw multiple highlights on the track and in the field events that included: In the first men’s event on the track (600m), junior Aman Thornton came out flying in the first of three heats setting the pace that no one was able to match. Thornton’s speed brought him a length ahead of the next closest competitor in the heat, teammate Carson Tillman. Thornton’s time (1:18.18) in the first heat ultimately won him the event.
