Two hospitals to be audited

LAHORE : Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has decided to conduct special audit of two teaching hospitals of Lahore in respect of local purchase of medicines and other surgical instruments for FY 2019-20 and 2020-22. Three-member audit committee comprising Deputy Director Internal Audit Wing Alamdar Hussain as convener, Deputy Director Financial Management Cell Hammad-ur-Rab and Manager Specialized Healthcare Shafique Hussain as members has been constituted by the department. This was disclosed by Secretary Specialized Healthcare Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan here on Monday while chairing a meeting which was attended amongst others by Additional Secretary Development Dr Asif Tufail. The secretary said the decision of the audit of these hospitals was taken in view of growing complaints regarding purchase of medicines in respect of LP.

OPD services, elective surgeries resume in hospitals

LAHORE:Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department has ordered for resuming elective surgeries in all teaching/specialised hospitals of the province except Mayo Hospital with effect from Tuesday.
The OPD services of four specialties - ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and Dentistry - also resume. Earlier, the OPD services and elective surgeries were closed in the hospitals due to a surge in corona cases. LAHORE: The Punjab government has blacklisted a multinational and two local firms for violating service contract of the CT Scan machine (128 slice) and ancillary services with five-year warranty period for the Mayo Hospital, Lahore, and referred the case to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to launch a case against them.
The Rs200 million machine has been dysfunctional due to the technical faults the companies failed to address and caused a loss to the national exchequer.
