The HC has passed the order while hearing a suo-motu matter, on the cases pending against the MPs/MLAs (sitting or erstwhile) in the states of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh.
The issue pertains to the matter of retirees of the rank of honorary naib subedars who were not paid interest on their pension arrears as directed by the Armed Forces Tribunal in 2017.
The bench of Justice Manjari Nehru Kaul added that the police “cannot afford to be casual in their approach and conduct” by not appearing before the trial court to record their evidence.
