Your staff and crook are there to sooth me. Let us pray. All powerful ever living lord of all, may you guide this time this gathering as we remain mindful of the cost paid for our liberty. We gather here in gratitude for the men we recognize today, for their courage, their faithfulness and their selfless service. May the lives of sergeants Henry Johnson and william shemen remind us the soldiers art, the soldiers spirit, and the soldiers soul are everything. Keep us mindful always of these men. Of their acts of valor. Their witness to the Human Capacity for good even in the face of the most inhuman conditions of the battlefield. May these soldiers, their acts of heroism continue to form the fabric of our nations unfielding devotion to protect the dignity of all human. Of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Is a five day difference. This is amazing coincidence to me. I think it is more than a coincidence. I want to put up on a screen a directive sent out by the chief Technology Officer of the irs. If we could get that on the screen. And this is the directive that went out to managers, is that correct, telling them not to reace the erase the data. Correct. This went out on may 22nd, 2013. When were the taped erased at the irs. On or about march 4th, 2014. So about eight months later. And is this if we look at the highlighted part on here it said do not destroy, wipe, reuse any of the existing backup tapes for email or archiving or other information for irs personal computers. Did that go to managers that were at the facility where the tapes were erased . It did. And there was a lot of discussion that we captured in our investigation by capturing the managers emails over what mullholland meant by this directive. So what did they say they thought it meant when you talked to them . They belie
We cant lose ground. The new treatments can be extremely expensive and cost as much as 1,000 a pill. I understand the v. A. Has been able to negotiate with the Drug Companies to a lower cost. And ive heard estimates that v. A. Is instead paying closer to 600 a bill, is that correct . I you may not have a answer. I would like to not have to answer that question. We work very slowly and collaboratively with the manufacturers of those drugs and have been able to reach attractive arrangements for the continued purchase of those drugs. And we continue to have those conversations. My what im curious about is if maybe our veterans are maybe choosing to go to v. A. As opposed to the private care or tricare or other options because they might get access to this medication more easily and the doctors might be able to get the treatment done in a more timely manner . I think that is certainly the case. If a veteran who is medicare eligible was to go to a private provider, he would wind up with a v
Decades or more and the policy has failed. We ought to try Something Else not just continue applying that same model to new substances. Thats just me. Mr. Wooldridge. In talking about alcohol in the period of alcohol prohibition, bootleg dhol was adulterated with methyl alcohol and other compounds and drinkers were blinded and people were paralyzed and there was a term called jake leg which was a kind of paralysis in which people were perm nentsly injured from their use of alcohol and that, of course, we know is the function of prohibition and not of the legal control. Are these drugs harmful . The evidence is of people who present themselves to the police and so on yes, these seem to be quite harmful. They are harmful as a consequence of the market distortions that Law Enforcement creates for the drugs that people want to get and there was an article in the New York Times magazine this sunday, i didnt want to use these drugs, but theyre easier to get and theyre being represented as be
