Classes are due to resume Monday for more than 4,000 students in a suburban Chicago school district after striking teachers reached agreement on a new contract
Classes were canceled Friday for the roughly 4,200 students at Proviso's three high schools after a final attempt Thursday to avert a strike was unsuccessful.
Unrest erupted in hallways Wednesday, including two small fires in bathrooms at both Proviso East and Proviso West, the District 209 superintendent said.
