On the Rhode Island Report podcast, Judge Melissa DuBose discusses the decade she spent teaching in Providence schools and her decision to become a prosecutor.
“DuBose’s confirmation matters because judicial diversity both personal and professional helps to build public trust in courts, improves judicial decision-making, and strengthens our democracy,” activist Maya Wiley said.
If confirmed by the US Senate, DuBose, now a state judge in Rhode Island, would become the first person of color and first openly LGBTQ judge to serve on the court.
