Sensex jumps 354 points to settle at 75,038. Nifty gains 111 points to 22,754. Nifty metals index rose 1.2%, hitting a record high for the second straight session.
The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex surged 351 points or 0.47% to settle at 74,228. The broader NSE Nifty gained 80 points or 0.36% to end at 22,515. High-weightage financials rose 0.8%, led by HDFC Bank, which gained 3% and hit its highest level since January 17, after posting sequential growth in deposits in the March quarter.
Bharti Hexacom's IPO is being offered in the range of Rs 542-570 apiece and investors can apply for a minimum of 26 equity shares and its multiples thereafter.
Tata Steel vs JSW Steel: Tata Steel stock ended 4.62% higher at Rs 163.20 on BSE today. On the other hand, JSW Steel stock ended 4.81% higher at Rs 871.30.
From the Sensex stock, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank and Wipro opened with gains, while Maruti Suzuki, HCL Tech, Titan, Tech Mahindra, and Asian Paints opened with cuts.
