Doctors and other staff in frequent contact with Covid-19 patients or suspected infectees will be among the first to be vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Other people on the priority list will be the elderly and those with chronic diseases that make them more vulnerable if they get infected, and officials in the diplomatic service, officials said at a government news briefing Tuesday.
Confounded by the problems Western nations are encountering in their Covid-19 vaccination programmes, the Philippines will look to Asian nations on how to inoculate millions of people against the deadly respiratory disease that has already claimed more than 10,600 Filipino lives.

The second shot of Nanocovax, a Vietnamese Covid-19 vaccine, has proven safe and immunogenic, the Vietnam Military Medical University said after volunteers were vaccinated starting Thursday.
The second shot produces an immune response four to five times higher than the first, it said.
Ho Anh Son, deputy director of the university’s Institute of Biomedicine and Pharmacy, said researchers would need to monitor volunteers health from the next six months to a year to ascertain the stability and longevity of antibodies produced.
