TUSCALOOSA, AL Susan Jones was recently sworn in as Tuscaloosa County tax collector, filling a role held by longtime public service Peyton Cochrane, who recently retired after 31 years of service to the county.
Jones was appointed to the position by Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey and sworn in Wednesday by Probate Judge and County Commission Chair Rob Robertson.
Robertson told Patch he received notification from the governor s office last week and Jones immediately went to work in her new role to fill the unexpired term of her predecessor after previously serving as deputy tax collector.
