US Consulate General, IPC Challenge Nigerian Journalists On Investigative Reporting
Addressing journalists during a two-day virtual training programme for select journalists in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, on Tuesday, Stephen Ibelli, Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate General Lagos, noted that journalism is an integral part of democracy as it helps check abuse and ensure accountability. Journalists help to keep the society informed, question government policies, gather information and put these information together for the public.

The US Consulate General and the International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos, have challenged Nigerian journalists on the need for more vigour investigations for accountability and to put leaders on their toes towards building a better society.
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has reassured that his administration will continue to prioritize the health and well being of all Edo people, ensuring the provision of quality health care services.
Obaseki gave the assurance when he received an “abridged report of the review of recommendations on the state’s healthcare sector reforms” from the Governor’s Health Advisory Team at the Government House, Benin City.
The governor said: “What the committee has done for us is very fundamental and far-reaching. The questions they have tried to help us answer, first, is what should be the role of government in the healthcare system? Should the government be a provider of healthcare services or a regulator of people in the healthcare system, or both?

Ahmadu Fintiri
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State Thursday took the COVID-19 vaccine jab but he said residents are free to decide whether they want to the vaccine or not.
“We have taken it, and it is safe and we are encouraging our citizens to go ahead and take the vaccine, but it is not compulsory,” Fintiri said after being administered the COVID-19 vaccine at the Yola Specialist Hospital.
“We are only encouraging them to take because that is the only way out to keep their health and that of their families safe.”
He, however, expressed that the vaccine would reduce the threat posed by the dreaded virus.
