The Pittsburgh Steelers cut quarterback Mitch Trubisky on Monday, sending the former No. 2 overall draft pick into free agency after two disappointing seasons. Trubisky signed with the Steelers in March 2022 and was given first crack at replacing the retired Ben Roethlisberger. Trubisky started four games before being benched in favor of then-rookie Kenny Pickett.
Mike Tomlin has spent the better part of the season — actually, check that, the past four-plus seasons — glossing over the Pittsburgh Steelers relentlessly stagnant offense by pointing to the scoreboard. Frustration internally seems to be mounting with each passing week, even with the Steelers (6-4) in the thick of the playoff mix as Thanksgiving looms. Three weeks ago, right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor lost his starting job — likely for good — for popping off late in a listless loss to Jacksonville.
Mike Tomlin understands and likely shares (on some unspoken level anyway) wide receiver Diontae Johnson's problems with the officiating during Pittsburgh's unwieldy 20-10 loss to Jacksonville on Sunday. The way Tomlin figures it, there's one sure way to make them irrelevant: play better. “It is our desire to win definitively where potentially controversial calls are less significant,” Tomlin said.
SoFi Stadium security was sent to rapper Blueface's suite that looked like a makeshift strip club with scantily clad women dancing inside of it during the Rams-Steelers game.
