BJP leader Madal Virupakshappa's son was caught accepting a Rs 40 lakh bribe to clear a deal for raw materials needed to manufacture soaps and detergents. A day later, over Rs 6 crore cash was found at the residence of the Karnataka BJP MLA's son.
Prashanth had demanded Rs 80 lakh as bribe to clear a tender process. He was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 40 lakh at his office. Prashanth has been taken into custody by the Lokayukta police who are now verifying the documents.
Madal Virupakshappa's son had allegedly demanded Rs 81 lakh as bribe from a contractor on his father's behalf to clear a tender to provide raw materials.
Four other accused in the case have also been handed over to judicial custody. Authorities are also likely to take BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa into custody and question him, they said.
