NAVI MUMBAI: In a major bust, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai has seized almost 300 kgs of illegal drug heroin amounting to over Rs 2,000 crore from Navi Mumbai s Nhava Sheva port.
According to the DRI, the consignment was being imported from Afghanistan and it had arrived in Mumbai via Iran. A total of 293.81 kgs of heroin was recovered from the six gunny bags and seized under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. It is estimated that the value of this contraband consignment of heroin would be over Rs 2,000 crores in the international illicit market, a statement by DRI Mumbai read.
