Small Plane Hits Car During Emergency Landing in Livermore; No Injuries

A small plane experiencing engine trouble made an emergency landing on an overpass near the Livermore Municipal Airport Tuesday afternoon, hitting a vehicle in the process, officials said. According to the FAA, the pilot of the single-engine Mooney M20 reportedly lost engine power just after taking off from the airport around 5 p.m. The pilot then landed the plane on one end of the Isabel Avenue overpass above Interstate 580. One car was hit during the landing.

Firefighters battling car fire in Marrakesh County Club in Palm Desert

A vehicle caught fire while it was inside a home garage in a Palm Desert neighborhood Thursday afternoon. The fire was reported 2:05 p.m. in the 73-000 block of El Hasson Circle, according to Cal Fire. The scene is in Marrakesh Country Club, which is west of Portola Avenue and north of Haystack Road  The vehicle was fully involved in flames when firefighters arrived. Firefighters contained the blaze at 2:39 p.m. and there were not any reports of injuries. They were expected to remain at the scene through Thursday afternoon. Army veteran celebrates new Habitat home dedication

NEW PORT RICHEY — Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco Counties celebrated another home dedication last week in New Port Richey. Mary White and her son, Aspen, unlocked the front door to their new home on Portola Avenue during an event on the morning of Dec. 10. “It’s been a dream to become a homeowner,” White said during the dedication. “From the bottoms of our hearts I just want to say how grateful we are.” White is a disabled U.S. Army veteran. Prior to connecting with Habitat for Humanity, the single mother entered into a homeless program “to better her family’s life and get back on track,” according to a Habitat press release.
