Woman admits stealing plant, shoes and copper piping A BISHOP’S Waltham woman has admitted a string of thefts across Hampshire including the Winchester district. Eileen Hughes, of Blanchard Road, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court today where she admitted to four thefts. On December 8, 2020, the 49-year-old stole a plant from outside an address in Knowle Avenue, Knowle, just five days later she took a pair of shoes from a driveway in Gosport Road, Lee-on-the-Solent. She then stole vehicle batteries on January 12 from Portchester Road in Fareham and on January 24 stole copper piping from a garden on Cottes Way, Fareham. Hughes previously appeared at the same court on March 25 where she also pleaded guilty to two thefts that took place on October 28, 2020. She had stolen metal and tools from Wallisdean Avenue in Fareham, and stole metal from a yard in Winchester Road, Shedfield.

Bishop's Waltham woman accused of stealing Christmas tree

Eileen Hughes has been charged in connection with a spate of thefts across Hampshire. The 49-year-old is alleged to have stolen a miniature Christmas tree from Knowle Avenue in Knowle and a pair of shoes from a driveway on Gosport Road in Lee-on-the-Solent. Hughes, of Blanchard Road, is also accused of stealing car batteries from a garden in Portchester Road, Fareham, and copper and lead from a garden in Cottes Way, Fareham. The charges relate to incidents between December 8, 2020 and January 24 this year. She is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on May 17.

Signed diversion route in operation.                                  

Amazon van and parcel thief handed suspended sentence

A MAN who stole an Amazon delivery van and parcels in Bournemouth has avoided an immediate prison sentence. Christopher Stanley Wright stole the silver Vauxhall Vivaro van and took some of the delivery packages from Pawel Garlicki s vehicle. Wright, 56 and of South Kinson Drive, Bournemouth, committed the crime on June 6 last year with Jed Hudson, aged 29 and of Lander Close, Poole. Hudson was handed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, after admitting the offences at Poole Magistrates Court. However, Wright pleaded not guilty. A trial went ahead in his absence after he failed to show up at court on October 1, 2020, and he was found guilty on both counts.
