launching a different kind of nuclear race. joining me is a political and national security analyst. you wrote about this in the times front page story. really interesting read, david. and one section of the nuclear posture review by the trump administration that you highlight declares that the u.s. might use nuclear weapons to respond to a non-nuclear attack such as the power grid or cell phone networks. that s pretty shocking for many people to hear. it is, and i think what is reflects, brianna, is the new reality that it wouldn t necessarily take a nuclear weapon or electromagnetic pulse to take out a good part of our infrastructure, that cyber weapons have now gotten to the point where you actually could, with a cyber attack, take out a good deal of infrastructure. the new policy doesn t say that if you are hit with a big cyber attack we would necessarily respond with a nuclear weapon, but it lays out that possibility
opposed to working together. we ve had no support on any of the president s initiatives in terms of tax cuts and those kinds of things. and we ve gotten to a point where you can t have a disagreement with somebody politically without demonizing them. i think that s on both sides, and that s something i think many people would get around going, just because we might have a disagreement on policy doesn t mean we have a bad person. there can be agreement on everything. a buildup from north korea on threats. you re watching andrea mitchell reports on msnbc.
