Selectmen target Saugus Middle-High School parking problems with new plan

The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to make the following streets “no parking” from 7-8:30 a.m. during school days: Highland Avenue, Orchard Avenue, Farmland Road, Highland Park, Meadow Lane and Apple Lane. Under the revised configuration, Highland Avenue will become one-way from 1-5 p.m. with traffic only permitted to travel from Vine Street toward Pierce Memorial Drive.

Saugus Police: Malden shoplifter arrested after hiding on roof Wicked Local A Malden man was arrested on a shoplifting charge after allegedly stealing a jacket from Macy’s and climbing on top of a roof to try to evade police. On Jan. 25 a little before 6:30 p.m., Saugus Police received a 911 call from Macy’s loss prevention reporting a male shoplifter fled the store with a jacket. Responding officers spotted the suspect, Joseph D. Spinney, 34, of 26 Bainbridge St., Malden, on Bufford Street. Saugus Police Chief Michael Ricciardelli said Spinney took off running and climbed a ladder to reach the roof of a Bufford Street home.
