Police officers are tired.
So says Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith, who added on Tuesday at a press conference that a mere 44 members of the Defence Force have assisted police in state of emergency (SoE) and curfew patrols. He promised the police will continue to do what they must.

A police officer, assigned to the Guard Unit at the Police Administration Building in Port of Spain, has died from covid19 virus.
PC Anthony Nicholson was among five people who died on Friday from the virus.
In a statement on Saturday, CoP Gary Griffith, along with his executive, extended condolences to the family and friends of the officer.
There are 79 other officers who have the virus and another 481 in quarantine after being exposed to people with the virus.
In a media release issued on Saturday, Griffith said Nicholson died due to complications associated with covid19.

Superintendent Roger Alexander is the new head of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT). His appointment was announced on Wednesday by Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith during the weekly police media briefing at the Police Administration Building in Port of Spain.
Griffith, when asked about the thought process behind selecting Alexander, said he chose the best fit for the unit.
La Romaine policeman recognised for good deed

A policeman has been honoured for his act of kindness in helping a woman whose car shut down on the roadside.
Constable Sujeet Ramcharan, of the La Romaine police post, was recognised on Wednesday at the police media briefing for his excellent service held at the Solomon McLeod theatre of the Police Administration Building in Port of Spain.
On Wednesday, a release from police said Ramcharran was on his way to work in his personal car last Thursday when he saw a car parked on the M2 Ring Road in La Romaine.
