Bulldozers rolled into the Town Neck Beach parking lot , Thursday, January 28 in anticipation of a very large special delivery.
On Monday morning, weather permitting, the town of Sandwich will be receiving about 15,000 cubic yards of sand from the town of Bourne.
Natural Resources Director David J. DeConto said Town Neck Beach will be closed to the public for at least the next two weeks as the earth moving equipment place the sand on the beach and grades it into place.
âWe would love to use the sand to fill in the dune from the west end to the boardwalk, but we donât know how far we can get it to stretch,â Mr. DeConto said.

Florence S. Fosgate, who lived in Pocasset for many years, died at home January 8 at the age of 88. Ms. Fosgate had Alzheimerâs disease and spent the five years prior to her death at Stafford Hill Assisted Living in Plymouth.
She was the widow of Charles M. Fosgate Jr.
The daughter of Edna Frances (Southwick) Potter and Merwin Grant Potter, she grew up in a farmhouse in Braintree with her older sister, Elinor, her parents and grandparents, during the Great Depression. The girls wore clothes made by their mother, walked everywhere they went, and enjoyed simple pleasures, such as playing with paper dolls, looking for âfairiesâ in backyard flowers, and picking blueberries for pancakes at Charge Pond. She never lost her down-to-earth, sensible nature. She learned early to always be âusefulâ and could make a pie from scratch by age 11.
