and this is exactly what s supposed to happen. article one and article two have a fight and article three is the referee. right now they re siding with article one. my response to that and that s true, article one needs to assert its powers. they have the power of the purse. you can initiative showdowns and an impeachment inquiry. i don t know if that matters. but there s the brute playground politics of force against force. the one thing i suspect is trump is willing to go all the way with whatever agenda he s pushing and democrats are reticent and cautious and hedging and worried about what some kind of imaginary median voter is thinking. that gives trump who is willing to be maximally aggressive a huge advantage. the steps that have been taken this week, another
that. harris: hears with the president said moments ago, very sad commentary about today s politics. we know that in the beginning, it was republicans trying to get this research as well. that is not denied by this president, which is why it boggles the mind that the dnc could go forth on something they knew wasn t true. it s important to keep in mind that this was opposition research that originated during the dnc primary. he would not name names. i think one of the question is, was originated by somebody who ended up working on his general election campaign? harris: or running against him, we don t know. this is standard procedure, to take opposition research and often times this happens when a g.o.p. primary opponent becomes the nominee and the democratic opponent is running against them, you take that research. harris: here s the problem
today, appreciate it. now we have breaking news, president trump spoke moments ago before the parting or joint base andrews. he did mention jeff flake, let s watch. [inaudible] i think it s very sad what they ve done with this fake dossier, i understand they made a tremendous amount of money, hillary clinton always denied it, democrats always denied it. they admitted it and they are embarrassed by it. i think it s a disgrace, it s a very sad commentary on politics in this country.
to a certain extent, maybe i can blame the media. politics is a rough business, there is no question about it. i will say this, i think the republican party has a pretty good unity. when i look at that group yesterday at lunch, you reported on it very well, you gave it a very good report. the fact is, there was tremendous unity in that room and we are really unified on what we want to do. we want tax cuts for the middle class, tax cuts for businesses to produce jobs, there is great unity. he said you were dangerous to our democracy. he was up against me before he ever knew me, he wrote a book about me before i ever met him, before i ever heard his name. his poll numbers in arizona are so low he couldn t win and i don t blame him for leaving, i think he did the right thing for himself. long before he ever knew me,
arizona last week, we had an amazing kickoff event with over 1,000 energized, excited voters from arizona who were ready to take this agenda to the next level. i think that was one of the catalysts behind a senator flake stepping out, he saw the decrease in his momentum and the extreme momentum we had it with our professional team, the grass roots across the country, our fund-raising, everything is in place to drain the swamp, to get me there and for me to do the job. harris: you took on john mccain. you lost within 11 points or so from a senator who had been in politics for 30 years. there was this idea, could you get closer this time because that certainly made history in our way. how has the landscape changed or has it since you and john mccain were competitors? i think a lot of people have buyers remorse over it
