DNR needs help removing invasive garlic mustard from state parks

Several state recreation areas in southeast Michigan will host volunteer stewardship workdays this month to aid in the removal of invasive plants that threaten the parks’ ecosystems.
There are opportunities this month at five parks in Livingston, Oakland and Washtenaw counties. Most of projects will focus on invasive garlic mustard removal, which is appropriate for the whole family participate in.

The colder, shorter days of winter–the time of year many Michiganders struggle with cabin fever and the “winter blues”–are now upon us. This year, with the need to avoid social gatherings and many indoor activities to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, winter may seem bluer than ever.
