ABC Columbia Mar 12, 2021 6:03 PM EST COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of a man who passed away in the hospital a day after being involved in a vehicle collision. The coroner says 26-year-old Phillip Auston Jones Friday due to injuries sustained in the collision on Thursday. At around 9 a.m. on Thursday, officials say Jones was the rear passenger in a vehicle traveling west on Bethany Church Road when the driver did not stop at the stop sign and collided with another vehicle, which was traveling north on Boiling Springs Road. Investigators say Jones was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Coroner Fisher says one has died following Thursday morning collision Lexington, SC – 03/13/2021 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Thursday evening that one of the passengers of a vehicle involved in the collision at Boiling Springs Road and Bethany Church / Redmond Roads has now died. This collision happened on Thursday, March 11, 2021 just before 10:00 a.m. Coroner Fisher said that Phillip Auston Jones, 26, of West Columbia was pronounced dead at an area hospital on March 12, 2021 due to his injuries. Jones was riding in the rear seat of a vehicle that was travelling toward Pelion when the driver of the vehicle he was in disregarded the stop sign. When it entered the intersection, it struck a work vehicle travelling along Boiling Springs Road.
