The illicit use of xylazine has steadily increased since the early 2000s, with alarming spikes in some regions of the United States. The emergence of xylazine as an illicit drug has created a significant threat to humans, due particularly to its intensifying effect when combined with opioids like fentanyl.
PHILADELPHIA – The City of Philadelphia has won dismissal of litigation from a California nonprofit group chaired by independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. concerning allegations that the City was vaccinating young children against COVID-19 without parental consent, for a lack of subject matter jurisdiction.
Fentanyl has long been mixed with heroin, but the lethal opioid is being increasingly mixed with stimulants like cocaine, crack and methamphetamines, health officials say. They say drug testing strips for fentanyl and xylazine, a veterinary tranq, are critical to preventing fatal overdoses among drug users who do not realize their substances are tainted.
