Pa. courts move up to No. 2 ranking on ATRA's annual 'Judicial Hellholes' report list

WASHINGTON – According to the latest annual report of “Judicial Hellholes” released Tuesday by the American Tort Reform Association, Pennsylvania courts have garnered the No. 2 ranking for jurisdictions considered unfriendly to businesses – moving up two places from the fourth spot on the list, where they had been ranked last year.

Maryland real estate firm dismissed from woman's injury suit against Designer Shoe Warehouse

PHILADELPHIA – A Maryland-based real estate defendant has been dismissed from litigation brought by a Philadelphia woman, who claimed she suffered a number of serious injuries when she fell into an aisle’s endcap shelf at one of its Designer Shoe Warehouse store locations.

Most defendants dismissed from Zamboni toxic exposure case against Philadelphia Flyers, others

PHILADELPHIA – The majority of defendants have been dismissed from a lawsuit charging that two mens’ incurable diseases resulted from their exposure to cancer-causing chemicals emitted from the Zamboni machines used to clean the ice in between periods, with the remaining defendants claiming that the matter must be handled through arbitration, according to the plaintiffs’ employment agreements.
